Theater Pokoleniy — Theater of Generations
was founded in St. Petersburg in 1990. The mission of the Theater is to draw
upon the traditions of Russian psychological theater and adapt them to the new
cultural and social context at the dawn of the 21st century. The company
explores techniques to build upon the teachings of Stanislavsky and reflect the
changing conditions of the 90ies.

performing traditional work, such as Shakespeare, the company reaches out to
new playwrights internationally and creates work collectively as well. Guest
artists from Germany and the United States bring new conceptual visions to
Pokoleniy productions and company members bring their own projects to the group
to develop them for performance.
Pokoleniy - Generations - aims to create a nurturing theatrical home for
both artists and audience: a laboratory for discovering new theatrical
languages for the 21st century.

was twice invited to tour Japan. Shows have toured numerous Russian cities
including Moscow, Kuibyshev, Novosibirsk.
was founded in 1990 by renowned director and theater pedagogue Zinovy
Korogodsky. Winner of the
Stanislavsky award, Korogodsky established the rigorous actor training system
which has sustained and unified the company. In 2005 Danila Korogodsky took the
helm as Artistic Director of Theater Pokoleniy. Danila is a director and
scenographer who has worked widely in United States and Europe for over two
decades. Under his leadership, Pokoleniy Theater is expanding its search for
new means of theatrical expression – grounded in the traditions of Stanislavsky
and challenged by the complex, rapidly changing world of the 21st
A NEW MODEL FOR
is a fully repertory company that does not receive any support from the state
and lives on its box office, grants, and private donations. Such practices are
common in the west, but are very new for Russia. The theater occupies a black
box space on Lahtinskaya street at Petrogradskaya Storona in the city of St.
Petersburg – a new sort of theater for a new sort of company.
